Sysadminday

Drupal performance

On http://buytaert.net/drupal-vs-joomla-performance you can find a performancetest about Drupal and Joomla!. It's rather informative.

In short: Drupal takes many benefits from an enabled cache.

This is what I call professional support

Yesterday arrived the first Sun server ever I bought for a costumer of my company. Since this was a big moment for me I will write a follow up with some pictures. :-)

When I first turned it on I heard a grinding noise. It seems that one of the fans is a bit flawky. At about 10 p.m. I wrote to my consultant at IPS (my Sun vendor) and told him about this problem. Today at 8:45 a.m. Sun Support called me, whether I want a technician or if I want to change it my own. 2 hours later I received a mail that the spare part is on the way.

Remember, since the server is for a small company and is not that critical I did not purchase any extra service contracts.

Gongratulations Sun and IPS you did not make me regret my decision to buy Sun, but really gave me another reason to stick to it.

Dual language blog

As most of the technical things I write about in this blog are about topics most interesting for people who have IT jobs I will provide more English versions of my articles. According to my hit analysis I see, that many people from English speaking countries come to this blog and leace soon.

I don't think writing technical articles in English is a big drawback, because most people involved in IT should be able to read English fluently. And maybe I'll provide German versions, too. Just for your convencience. :-)

I'm not quite sure if I will keep both versions like on c0t0d0s0.org, but maybe there will be some translations for articles which are really important to me.
